As I logged on, something hit me. MY PAGE IS KINDA GIRLY. lol.<br />Oh well, I hope you are SO enamored by the content of this blog that you see through the borderline hannah montana-ish qualities of my blog page.<br /><br />So check this out.<br /><br />This has been my thought for the last 10 minutes or so: Are you a knowledge sponge? or a knowledge STEWARD?<br />Every believer wants to grow in their knowledge, so they soak up as much as they can!!<br />I am the first to say that I can murder some "knowledge" books (aka books found in the christian living section of your local Lifeway store). Also, I can fly through some podcasts (matt chandler and Andy Stanley are beasts).<br /><br />However, I'm afraid I might be guilty of knowledge overload. This means that i'm ingesting more than I can chew. I expose myself to so much spiritual truth (via books and podcasts), I can't make anything of it. This makes the whole process a complete waste of my time.<br /><br />ULTIMATELY we read these <em>suppliments (</em>books/podcasts) to better our understanding and interpretation of scripture. But when they <em>take the place of scripture</em>, we find ourselves walking a "knowledge treadmill." We feel like we are moving forward, when we are going nowhere at all.<br /><br />Don't get me wrong, I love Blue Like Jazz, Velvet Elvis, Crazy Love, etc.. (I'm half way through Forgotten God and can hardly put it down). And if Matt Chandler had a shirt, I'm ashamed to say.. I'd probably buy it.<br /><br />But maybe we need to <em>slow down </em>our knowledge in-take.<br />Take a bite.. Chew it up good.. Get the taste in our mouths.. Digest it.. (I'm sorry, i know this getting uncomfortable, so you get the point).<br /><br />Growing in our knowledge and understanding of Christ is so important, make sure you're treating it that way. For some of us, that could mean choosing <em>one</em> good knowledge read to accent the Word of God. For others, you might find that you are walking that treadmill going nowhere. Now might be the perfect time for a knowledge book/podcast detox. You might need to feast solely on God's Word.
